Abby Taylor
**January 2023**
Heading into the 2023 event season, I’ve got plenty of ambitions including my 1* debut and to compete round Novice tracks later on in the year with Peter Pan. After an exciting and successful 2022, we’ve learnt a lot as a combination to tackle new challenges. Taking on events including both Cotswold Cup Championships and Bicton BE100open 3 day, it’s only made the Eventing bug creep in more!
Balancing my career with my professional hobby of Eventing, I pride myself on staying disciplined to pursue my dreams on multiple fronts. The team at Treehouse have supported me as a rider since I won the 2020 Search for a Star and have been incredibly grateful since to continue our relationship, Treehouse stock pretty much everything I’d ever need for training and competing so am always kitted out in their gear! I love that they now stock Premier Equine products as their boots have been a staple throughout my Eventing journey so far for all my horses, catching their tradestand at a event is always handy when ‘ oh no I’m out of studs.. ‘ and so forth! Bringing as much back to the team as possible, you’ll see me working the stand too at HOYS, Badminton etc throughout the year and is always lovely to meet others here who are vivid Treehouse fans.
Alongside Eventing and competing most weekends during the season with Peter Pan, my other grey Harley is back into work following his spondylosis injury and will be taking him out to local Eventers Challenges and show jumping throughout the year for that extra bit of fun again!
**January 2022**
2021 brought Harley and I a win at the first Cotswold Cup event at Oxstalls at the beginning of the season! After I finished my A Levels, I began my gap year in which I picked up a training sponsorship from Grand Prix Dressage Rider Maria Griffin to really help me elevate my riding. I've had a fantastic time helping Treehouse with their trade stands at both HOYS and Your Horse Live, certainly it was a busy time! I was extremely lucky to have been given the ride on former intermediate horse, Dec, owned by the Hitchman family. Dec gave me very valuable experience and we had some great fun competing in show jumping. The first half of the year was full of good results with Harley before he suspected an unfortunate couple of injuries. This then leads me to get a lease horse, a fantastic 15.1hh grey who's evented up to BE Novice, to progress with throughout 2022.
Plans for this year with Peter comprises aims to qualify for the BE Jump Training Championships, Area Championships, Bicton 3 Day and potentially take me round my first 1*. We've also joined BD which will be a new territory and an amazing experience to aid my eventing. I'll also be rehabilitating Harley and continue training a few of the young horses at the yard.
**January 2021**
I’m Abby Taylor, an 19 year young amateur event rider. Having the privilege to be the Horse Events and Treehouse Star in 2020, I have been very fortunate for the continuation of support and new opportunities with Team Treehouse.
I have been training my 15.1hh Connemara Harley to event with aims this year to compete at the 100 3 Day event at the end of the year alongside a consistent season of 90/100 level events. Certainly not forgetting a Badminton Grassroots qualification! However, long term I am working towards 1* and Novice. Knowing how hard we train and the experience I am gaining through riding multiple other horses, I’m hopeful that this is something I can achieve!
Combining my enthusiasm for photography with competing and training, I post regular updates of my journey on my Instagram page @abby_eventing
Ever since I began competing at 10, I’ve used Treehouse products and have been hooked on their quality and variety ever since. With my ambitions and aspirations I am forever grateful for Treehouse’s support, it’s an absolute dream to work with a company I’ve put so much trust in and love so dearly!
